Faith And Testimony

Hola hola! It has been another good week filled with lots of lessons with our friends! Our friends Danny and Andreas came to church yesterday. It was Andreas's first time and he had so much fun in primary.  Our friend Carol is doing really well too! Last week, we taught her about temples. After our lesson, we sent her a video of a temple tour and she loved it!  We started teaching a woman named Amy. She has been taught by missionaries for a few years but it has been on and off due to some health issues. She comes to church almost every Sunday and has the desire to be baptized. We just need to finish teaching her all of the lessons.  At church yesterday, we studied Enos in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Enos begins with Enos praying to be forgiven of his sins. After he has been forgiven, Enos asks "Lord, how is it done?" The voice of the Lord comes to his mind and says "Because of thy faith in Christ, whom thou hast never before heard nor seen. And many years pass aw...

Spiritual Momentum

Hola hola! A couple of weeks ago, a member of our ward called us to say that he had visited a part-member family in the ward and the two sons were interested in coming to church. We visited the family later in the week and met the two sons. Their names are Danny and Andreas, and they are so sweet! We had a few lessons with them and they came to a youth baptism on Saturday. Danny has gone to a couple of the Young Men's activities and came to church yesterday. Andreas wasn't able to come to church and there aren't many activities for his age group, so we're still trying to help him make friends.  My friend Blanca from my last area got baptized on Saturday! I was able to go to the baptism and it was such a sweet experience. Blanca was so happy. A couple of days before the baptism, she told the missionaries that she was thinking about pushing back her baptismal date again. Doubts started to creep in that made her feel like she wasn't ready. The missionaries said okay an...

Temples

Hola hola! It was a very busy and revelation-filled week here! We started if off with Zone Conference. Melanie Stroud, the Come Follow Me for Us podcast host, spoke to us during one of the sessions. She talked about the power of the scriptures and stated that the First Vision wasn't necessarily the first miracle of the Restoration. She explained that the first miracle of the Restoration was when God used James 1:5 to send Joseph to the grove to pray. This statement helped me to realize that the Bible and the Book of Mormon were both vital instruments in the Restoration. Without James 1:5, Joseph wouldn't have offered the prayer that opened the Heavens after years of darkness.  We started teaching a cute couple named Edwin and Gloria. They moved here about a month ago from Guatemala. Brother Montoya joined us for the lesson and was an amazing fellowshipper for them. They are both opened minded and excited to continue learning. We had the opportunity to watch General Conference w...

¡Feliz Pascua!

¡Feliz Pascua! Its crazy to say, but it has been a cool and rainy week here. I'm definitely not complaining though. It will get warm soon enough haha.  Last week, we stopped by some of the people that I taught when I was first here in Vía Verde. I was very surprised to find out that almost all of them have moved. We have also tried to get ahold of them by phone, but we haven't had much luck. We were looking through our list of people who have met with missionaries before, and we came across a man named Gari. We felt like we should call him, so we did. We ended up playing phone tag for a little bit then finally talked to him. He said that he was interested in meeting with us, and we set up a lesson for the next day. Gari has lots of struggles that he's facing, and he really wants to get closer to God. He had been to church a couple of times but never had a real lesson with missionaries. On Sunday, Gari walked to church in the rain. It was amazing to see that through all of t...
