New Companion!

Image
Hola! I have a new companion! Her name is Hermana Curbelo, and she is from Argentina! Hermana Morgan and I are training her. She is so sweet, and I already love her so much. She is actually learning English, so Hermana Morgan and I are helping her learn English and she is helping us learn Spanish.  We got in a little car accident last week. We side swiped another car. Nobody was injured and there wasn't much damage to either car. It was Hermana Curbelo's first real day in the mission field, so she was a little surprised. Nothing says welcome to the field like a car accident haha. We picked grapefruits for a charity called Be Fruitful. Jodi, the lady who is over the charity, takes the fruit to homeless people or other people in need within the community. We ended up with 107 bags of grapefruits with 10 grapefruits in each bag. Thats 1,070 grapefruits! It was crazy! Jodi gave us a few bags for us to eat, so I'll be eating grapefruits for the next month haha.  We had a few mor...

Temple Trip

Hola todos! Last week, we had a few lessons over the phone with Rafael. He is a truck driver, so he is on the road a lot. It makes it a little hard to have in-person visits with him, but he loves talking to us on the phone. He told us that we could call him every day and have a lesson with him because he knows that we teach about Jesus Christ. He has such a strong desire to learn. It's amazing! We have been going to the house of some older members in our ward to have the lessons. It has been really special for them to help us teach Rafael because they aren't able to go to many lessons with us since they can't drive at night. They have incredible testimonies and they love sharing the gospel with others. We had a lesson with a lady named Miriam Rodriguez. She hadn't been to church for several years. We were able to talk through some of her concerns and fears about coming to church again. The next day was Sunday, and she came to church! She is a very sweet lady who has bee...

Hola familia y amigos! We had another visit with Chano and Martha last week. María, Yamileth, and Johanna came with us. They were able to bear their testimonies of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. They have such strong testimonies, and it was neat to here them share them. It was also amazing to have Yamileth at the lesson with us since she is wanting to serve a mission. She loved being a part of it and getting to experience missionary work before she goes on a mission. We had a few more exchanges this week, so Sister Marusiak came to my area with me. I was a little nervous because Sister Marusiak doesn't speak Spanish, and I'm still far from fluent. We had a visit with a man named Rafael. He had talked to missionaries a few times but never actually had a lesson with them. He is from Cuba, so his accent is a little harder to understand and he uses some different words. I was blessed with the gift of tongues during our visit. Although I didn't speak or understand everythi...

Romanians!

Hola hola! Last week, we were supposed to have a lesson with Chano. We went to his apartment and he wasn't there, but his wife was. She let us in and we started teaching her about the Restoration. About halfway through the lesson, Chano got home. We finished teaching them the lesson and invited them to come to church. They came to church yesterday and brought their daughter! It was so exciting! They are such a sweet family. We have another lesson with them tonight. One night, after dinner, we decided to knock a few doors at an apartment complex called The Standard West. We knocked on one door, and a lady answered. She didn't speak english, but she spoke a little bit of Spanish. We told her that we are missionaries, and she invited us inside. Her husband and nephew were there too. They were all from Romania, so their primary language was Romanian. Her husband and nephew spoke a little bit of Spanish too. They had just prayed on their dinner and were about to start eating when we...
