Temples

Hola hola!

It was a very busy and revelation-filled week here! We started if off with Zone Conference. Melanie Stroud, the Come Follow Me for Us podcast host, spoke to us during one of the sessions. She talked about the power of the scriptures and stated that the First Vision wasn't necessarily the first miracle of the Restoration. She explained that the first miracle of the Restoration was when God used James 1:5 to send Joseph to the grove to pray. This statement helped me to realize that the Bible and the Book of Mormon were both vital instruments in the Restoration. Without James 1:5, Joseph wouldn't have offered the prayer that opened the Heavens after years of darkness.

We started teaching a cute couple named Edwin and Gloria. They moved here about a month ago from Guatemala. Brother Montoya joined us for the lesson and was an amazing fellowshipper for them. They are both opened minded and excited to continue learning.

We had the opportunity to watch General Conference with several different ward members. We also watched one of the sessions with our friend Carol. It was Carol's first time watching General Conference, so it was neat to try to see it through her eyes. Many of the speakers talked about the importance of keeping our covenants with God, specifically our temple covenants. President Henry B. Eyring stated that "temple worship allows us to grasp the meaning of the Savior’s words 'Peace, Be Still.'" He later said that "there is nothing more important than honoring your temple covenants." Elder Ulisses Soares encouraged us to always have our next temple appointment scheduled, and President Dallin H. Oaks reminded us that "covenants don't take a day off." General Conference is a special time for us to receive the personal revelation that we have prayed for. I know that President Nelson and our other church leaders have been called by God to deliver His word. I invite you all to ponder about what you heard and felt during General Conference. Then plan how you will apply 2 or 3 of the impressions that you received. In James chapter 1, we are encouraged to "be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only." I testify that as we become doers of the word, God will work miracles in our lives. He will also use us as instruments in His hands to work miracles in the lives of others. Of these things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I love you all!

Con Amor,
Hermana Kendrick
