Carlos Is Baptized!

Image
Hola hola! I hope that you are all doing well! Carlos was baptized and confirmed on Sunday, and it was amazing! A bunch of ward members came to support him. We asked Hermano Bustillos to perform the baptism and confirmation, and he was so excited. Carlos didn't have any family members there with him, but Hermano Bustillos and the rest of the ward are truly like his family. He is so loved by everyone here. Seeing Carlos come up out of the water after being baptized and being there as he received the Holy Ghost was incredible. Hermana Cruz and I couldn't stop smiling. I feel so blessed to have been one of the people that taught Carlos and helped him to make this first covenant with God. He has such a sweet spirit and an incredible amount of faith in Jesus Christ. Carlos has been to church every Sunday since we started teaching him. This last Saturday, he called to tell us that his boss was making him work on Sunday and he wouldn't be able to come to church. He felt so bad tha...

Daily Experiences

Hola hola! I hope that you are all doing well! Our mission boundaries got changed last week. Part of what used to be the Scottsdale mission is now in our mission. The northern part of our mission around Flagstaff got combined with some other areas to become the Flagstaff mission. Basically, the missions are now split into the mountain area and the valley area. I'm excited for this new change. I know that it will help hasten the work. We had a lesson with Camilo last week and taught him about the Plan of Salvation. Hermano Morales from our ward came to the lesson with us. We explained how baptism is essential for us to be able to live with God again. Camilo told us that he has the desire to be baptized. We aren't able to set a date quite yet, but hopefully it will be soon.  We also had a couple more lessons with Carlos to help him prepare for his baptism this Sunday. We were able to attend another person's baptism with Carlos last night so that he could see how it works. Aft...

Happy Mother's Day!

Hola todos! Happy Mother's Day yesterday! I hope that it was a wonderful day for you all.  Last week, another sister completed her mission, so Hermana Iputi got transferred to finish out this transfer with that sister's companion. It was super unexpected. Now it's just me and Hermana Cruz. Sister Iputi was so much fun, and she will definitely be missed. Hermana Cruz is amazing too, and I'm excited to continue working with her.  We had a visit with Camilo last week to teach him about the Plan of Salvation. A member in our ward named Hermano Morales came with us. Camilo is so receptive to the gospel, and it was an amazing lesson. As Hermano Morales was bearing his testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, he said that he doesn't like to say that Christ was killed because at any point, Christ could've removed Himself from the cross. He had the power to do that. Hermano Morales said that instead of saying that Christ was killed, he says that He died or gave His li...

Carlos And Camilo

Hola hola! What a week! We had some amazing miracles happen here. We went to visit one of our new friends named Karin, but she wasn't home. Her niece Yanella was there though and we were able to start teaching her! She has a cute daughter too that just turned a year old. We received a referral from a church Facebook ad a few weeks ago. It was for a man named Camilo, and he was wanting to come to church. We had been trying to contact him, but he was never home and didn't answer the phone. One day, we were finally able to talk to him on the phone and set up a visit. Last week, we had the visit, and it was amazing! Camilo was so engaged and truly interested in everything that we talked about.  Carlos (the man that we started teaching last week) and Camilo both came to church yesterday! They are around the same age and became friends. During Sunday School, the second hour of church, we talked about some of the parables in the New Testament. We broke off into a few groups, and each ...
