Thank You, Mr. Gardener

Hola todos! I hope that you all had an amazing week! We had a couple more lessons with Elias last week. He is amazing! Unfortunately, he won't be able to be baptized for a while. We are trying to help him become friends with the ward members so that he can continue learning with them and stay motivated. Then we will visit him once a week to help him continue progressing toward baptism.  Last week, we were notified that Hermana McInnes' Visa is ready. She will be heading to her original assignment in Ecuador at the end of this transfer. We were both pretty shocked that it was ready so soon. Usually we don't get our transfer news until a few days before transfer day, so its weird to already know that she will be transferring. I'm sad to know that she will be leaving, but I'm excited for her to get to Ecuador. She will continue to be amazing there. We are still enjoying all of the time that we have left together before then. We stopped by a bunch of inactive members la...

Scorpions

Hola hola! I hope that you are all doing great! I saw my first scorpion here last week. At the end of P-Day, we were all getting ready to go when Hermana McInnes said "ummm hermanas." A man came to our apartment today to spray for bugs, so hopefully we won't see anymore.  Marjorie got baptized on Saturday. We were able to eat dinner with her and her kids a couple of days before the baptism. Her kids don't live here in Arizona and are members of other churches, but they came to support her. Marjorie was super excited because she didn't think that they were going to come. The baptismal service started off a little crazy because we were give...

Watch With Me

Hola todos! I made it to my new area! Its in Paradise Valley, and its beautiful! It reminds me a little bit of St. George. My companions are Hermana Van Alfen and Hermana McInnes. Hermana Van Alfen will be with us for another week or so. Then she will be transfering to a service mission. She is absolutely amazing. She is so Christlike and I already feel like I have known her forever. Hermana McInnes just got here from the MTC, and we picked her up on Saturday. She has been temporarily reassigned to the Phoenix mission while she waits for her Visa. Then she will be headed to the Guayaquil, Ecuador mission. She is so sweet and I'm excited to work with her.  The night before I left the La Joya area, we had a lesson with Daniel. He told us that he has been reading the Book of Mormon and that he watched all of the Book of Mormon videos. We invited him to be baptized on August 19th. He wasn't able to be baptized on his original date since we lost contact for a little while and still ...
