The Week Of Food

Image
Hola! Last week was wild. We had three exchanges, so I was in the English biking area for the majority of the week. We did a service activity on Tuesday at Habitat for Humanity. They were getting rid of a bunch of tables and dressors that have been in the store for a while, but they had to break them down first. They gave us sledgehammers and told us to just go at it, so that's what we did haha. It was crazy! It was like what you see on all of those home makeover shows on TV.  Until last week, I had somehow managed to avoid eating all of the foods that I don't like. Then I was given three of them on my exchanges. I ate hamburger meat, eggs, and bacon all in the same week! Trust me, I'm just as surprised as you are. The best part of all of this though is that none of it was as bad as I thought it was going to be. As I write this, I can hear my dad saying "see what you've been missing." I guess the gift of tongues applies to food too. We ate Thanksgiving dinner ...

Happy Thanksgiving!

¡Hola! ¡Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias! We started going to some English classes that are held at the church. The classes are free and open to anyone. It was crazy to hear people trying to learn English as I'm trying to learn Spanish. I realized how weird English is and how difficult it would be to learn it later in life. We went over the words their, there, and they're. I just sat thinking who in the world comes up with this stuff? We started teaching a lady named Maria and her family. She's amazing and has such a strong desire to learn more about the gospel. She is learning really fast and has already progressed so much.  One night last week, we knocked doors at an aparment complex. After we were done, we started walking back to our car. We stopped to take a picture of the sunset because it was AMAZING then a guy pulled up next to us in his car and started talking to us. He told us that the people in the apartment a couple doors down from where we were knocking smoke Fent...

Peacocks At The Library

Image
Hola! A few days ago, my companion and I did our companion study at a library close to our apartment. We walked outside after we got done studying and there were peacocks everywhere! A few of the peacocks even had babies with them. Some people who were standing outside of the library told us that the peacocks always hang out around there. They acted like it was no big deal. I was amazed haha. I had never seen so many peacocks in my life.  On Tuesday night, Hermana Farnsworth and I went to an apartment complex to visit one of the members in our ward. As we were walking to the member's apartment, we saw a guy standing outside of another apartment. I had a strong feeling that we needed to talk to him, but I was nervous and didn't know how to approach him. I decided that if he was there after we talked to the member, I would talk to him. We went to the member's apartment, and they weren't home. We started heading back to the car, and the guy we had seen earlier was still st...

I Made It To Phoenix!

Image
Hola everyone! I made it to Phoenix! My mission President and his wife (President and Sister Eyre) are amazing! I already love them so much. My companion is Sister Farnsworth. She's great! She's been serving for 14 months, so her Spanish is really good. She does most of the talking in our lessons haha.  When I was getting ready to leave the MTC, the wheels on one of my luggages broke. Two of the guys working at the reception desk tried to tape them on for me. Needless to say, the airport was an interesting experience. Before I left the MTC, I received a priesthood blessing from one of the Elders in my district. During the blessing, the Spirit in the room was so strong. I know that the words the Elder said were from God. I was able to feel the comfort I needed before coming to Arizona. I am so thankful for the priesthood and priesthood blessings. I know that priesthood power truly is from God.  My final devotional at the MTC was a video of Elder David A. Bednar. He talked about...
