Spiritual Momentum
Hola hola!
A couple of weeks ago, a member of our ward called us to say that he had visited a part-member family in the ward and the two sons were interested in coming to church. We visited the family later in the week and met the two sons. Their names are Danny and Andreas, and they are so sweet! We had a few lessons with them and they came to a youth baptism on Saturday. Danny has gone to a couple of the Young Men's activities and came to church yesterday. Andreas wasn't able to come to church and there aren't many activities for his age group, so we're still trying to help him make friends.
My friend Blanca from my last area got baptized on Saturday! I was able to go to the baptism and it was such a sweet experience. Blanca was so happy. A couple of days before the baptism, she told the missionaries that she was thinking about pushing back her baptismal date again. Doubts started to creep in that made her feel like she wasn't ready. The missionaries said okay and waited to plan the rest of the baptism. Soon after, Blanca received some big news that she had been waiting for for a long time. She knew that God truly was aware of her and that she needed to be baptized. It was amazing to see Blanca recognize God's hand in her life and choose to be baptized.
I had my final interview with President Fisk and it was amazing. I'm grateful for him and his ability to listen to the Holy Ghost. He told me some things that I've really been needing to hear. I'm so thankful for the opportunity that I had to get to know him and serve with him.
There's a woman in our area named Amy who has been taught by missionaries in the past. Because of some health issues, we haven't been able to have lessons with her. However, she has been coming to church and joined us to watch the Why I Believe event last night through Zoom. Amy loves the church and has a strong desire to be baptized. We have our first lesson with her this week!
As I was studying last week, I watched a video about spiritual momentum. One of the men in the video said that "its a lot easier to stay in shape than it is to get back in shape." In this case, he was referring to spiritual shape. This idea reminded me of Elder Renlund's talk from the recent General Conference. He said, "We become vulnerable when we slow down and especially when we stop. If we maintain spiritual momentum by continually 'rowing' toward the Savior, we are safer and more secure because our eternal life depends on our faith in Him." Elder Renlund continued by saying, "Our faith in Jesus Christ needs to be nourished daily. It is nourished as we pray daily, study the scriptures daily, reflect on the goodness of God daily, repent daily, and follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost daily." One of the biggest lessons that I've learned on my mission is the importance of staying in "spiritual shape." Too often, we talk ourselves into the idea that we simply don't have enough time to read the scriptures, pray, etc. However, if we truly think about what we are doing instead, we will realize that there is always time, even if its only 5 minutes. Its easy to think that if its only 5 minutes then it might as well be nothing. However, I promise that any amount of time that we spend keeping ourselves in spiritual shape is time well spent. I know that Heavenly Father loves you. Jesus Christ loves you. He is the Savior of the World. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
