The Gift Of Tongues

¡Hola familia y amigos! Dia de Muertos is next week, so the MTC staff has been planting marigolds all week. There are marigolds everywhere! It looks so fun and festive here.  For our service project last week, my district helped fold clean sheets for the missionary houses and apartments. The Hermanas were assigned to fold fitted sheets. One of the workers here taught us how to do it. Who knew you could fold a fitted sheet and have it actually look good? Haha. I was pretty excited to learn how to do it. Last Friday, my companion and I practiced teaching a lesson about the Doctrine of Christ to some Elders in our district. One of the Elders asked us a question that we didn't know how to answer in Spanish. We sat quietly for a few seconds thinking about what to say. All of the sudden, the words just came to me. It was amazing! I knew exactly how to respond to the question in Spanish. I'm still not great at speaking Spanish, but I know that the gift of tongues is real. This e...

¡Hola! Wow, last week flew by. I'm still loving the MTC and learning a lot! My district did a service project last week. For the project, we put new bedding on the beds in one of the houses that new missionaries would be moving into. The guy leading the service project was like a drill sergeant. He would throw a blanket or sheet at someone then say a room number. If we weren't making the beds fast enough, he would say "¡Rapido!" Sometimes he would just take over and do it himself haha. I have never made a bed so fast in my life!  My afternoon teacher's name is Hermano Pichardo. During one of my Home MTC classes, he was eating a piece of candy. One of the Elders in my district asked him what kind of candy it was. It was called PicaFresa. Hermano Pichardo said he was going to buy us all a piece when we got to Mexico. We finally got to try it last week. I learned that I am not a fan of Mexican candy haha. It was spicy, and the texture was really strange. There were o...

¡Hola From México!

¡Hola familia y amigos! I made it to the MTC! It's true, the Spirit is so strong here. Being a missionary really is amazing.  My companion and district are awesome. I also love my MTC teachers. They make the MTC feel like home away from home. My Spanish is coming along very slowly, but it's definitely getting better. I live in a house with 21 other sister missionaries. There are 4 of us per room. You would be amazed at the things I have eaten here. I think I can officially say that I am no longer a picky eater. I'm already on my 4th week of the MTC. That includes the online MTC. It's crazy how much I have learned in such a short amount of time. The most important thing I learned this past week was that I need to completely trust in the Lord. I have come to realize that when I doubt myself, I am really doubting Him and His ability to share the gospel through me.  While doing my personal study last week, I came across a quote from President Boyd K. Packer. It says, "...
