Focus On Him

Image
Hola hola! I hope that you all had a great week! Last week, we stopped by a lady named Daniela. She was baptized a couple of years ago but has been inactive in the church for a while now. We were able to visit with her and her daughter Angelique. Angelique just turned 8, and she told us that she wants to be baptized! We talked with Daniela about the importance of both of them coming to church, and she said that she wants to become an active member again. Right now, we are focusing on helping Daniela return to church before Angelique gets baptized. Daniela also invited us to her house for breakfast on Saturday. It was super fun to have breakfast with her and get to know her better. It was my first time eating tacos at 7:30 in the morning haha. Daniela and Angelique both came to church yesterday! It was amazing! The ward members were excited to see Daniela again, and they were great at welcoming her and Angelique.  We ate dinner with another Castillo family in the ward. Part of the d...

Welcome To La Joya!

Hola todos! I hope that you are all doing well! I made it to La Joya! Its about 30 minutes South of my last area. The ward here is much bigger than the Solano Ward that I just came from. It's been fun to meet so many new people. We had a few member visits last week for me and Hermana Cruz to start getting to know the members in the ward. The members here are amazing, and I already love them will my whole heart. Hermana Iputi and Hermana Cruz are wonderful missionaries, and I am learning so much from them. We have a new friend named Maria. Last week, we taught her the Restoration of the Gospel, and she loved hearing Joseph Smith's First Vision. She just kept saying "wow." It was incredible. The Holy Ghost truly touched her heart, and she knew that what we were saying is true. We also have a new friend named Andrea. We taught her the Restoration of the Gospel too. She is the niece of one of the members in our ward, so she was familiar with a lot of what we talked about....

Easter Miracle

Image
Hola hola! I hope you all had an amazing Easter Sunday. We had an awesome miracle here. Over the last few months, we have been visiting the Hartwig family. They had been inactive members of the church for a few years when I first came to this area. The husband has recently been coming to church again, but the wife still hadn't been coming. We had a lesson with them last week and invited them both to come to church on Easter. We got to church on Sunday and they weren't there. We were pretty bummed that not even Hermano Hartwig came. About 10 minutes after the meeting started, we turned around and saw the Hartwigs sitting a few rows behind us with their two little girls. We were so excited! It was neat to see them at church together as a family. On Easter, we were also able to help the people at the Faith House set up for their Easter lunch. It is a home for women and children who have been abused. It is amazing how positive and kind the women are, even after everything they have...

Happy Easter!

Hola hola! I hope that you all had an amazing week and a wonderful General Conference weekend! Last week, we started teaching a man named Alberto. He saw an add on Facebook about meeting with missionaries and submitted his information for us to go visit him. We had a lesson with him and taught him about the restoration of the gospel. We brought a member from our ward with us to the lesson. When Alberto intruduced himself to the member, he introduced himself as Juan. Hermana Curbelo and I were confused, but we figured that he just has two names and prefers to be called Juan. The visit went really well, and Juan told us that he is interested in learning more. He didn't know his work schedule for the rest of the week yet, so he told us to call him the next day to set up another visit. We called him the next day, and Hermana Curbelo said "Hola Juan" and told him that it was the missionaries calling. He said hola but said that he wasn't Juan, he was José. Hermana Curbelo a...
