Daily Experiences
Hola hola!
I hope that you are all doing well!
Our mission boundaries got changed last week. Part of what used to be the Scottsdale mission is now in our mission. The northern part of our mission around Flagstaff got combined with some other areas to become the Flagstaff mission. Basically, the missions are now split into the mountain area and the valley area. I'm excited for this new change. I know that it will help hasten the work.
We had a lesson with Camilo last week and taught him about the Plan of Salvation. Hermano Morales from our ward came to the lesson with us. We explained how baptism is essential for us to be able to live with God again. Camilo told us that he has the desire to be baptized. We aren't able to set a date quite yet, but hopefully it will be soon.
We also had a couple more lessons with Carlos to help him prepare for his baptism this Sunday. We were able to attend another person's baptism with Carlos last night so that he could see how it works. After the baptism, we asked Carlos what his thoughts were and how he felt. He told us that as the person came up out of the water after being baptized, he got goosebumps. He said that he is so excited to be baptized and make his first covenant with God. Carlos has such a powerful spirit, and I'm so excited for him.
During district council last week, we talked about the importance of helping those we teach to have daily experiences with the Holy Ghost. As missionaries, we are responsible for helping these people to feel the Spirit each day. We help them do this by inviting them to read certain verses in the Book of Mormon, having a lesson with them, or other things like that. As we were talking as a district, one of the Elders named Elder Westover said "If the Holy Ghost is not having daily experiences with our friends, Satan will." As I thought about this comment, I realized that it applies to everyone, not just the people being taught by missionaries. If we are not having daily experiences with the Holy Ghost, Satan will have these experiences with us. When we wake up and choose to skip praying or reading our scriptures, we choose to give Satan a greater influence on us throughout our day. Although we may think that we can make it through the day on our own, we can't. We need the guidance of the Holy Ghost. I would like to invite you all to make a plan for how you will have daily experiences with the Holy Ghost each day this week. This can be through prayer, scripture study, reviewing General Conference talks, or any other ideas that you come up with. I know that as we increase our daily experiences with the Holy Ghost, we decrease Satan's influence on us. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love you. They want you to feel the Holy Ghost each day. I bear my testimony to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
