Focus On Him
Hola hola!
I hope that you all had a great week!
Last week, we stopped by a lady named Daniela. She was baptized a couple of years ago but has been inactive in the church for a while now. We were able to visit with her and her daughter Angelique. Angelique just turned 8, and she told us that she wants to be baptized! We talked with Daniela about the importance of both of them coming to church, and she said that she wants to become an active member again. Right now, we are focusing on helping Daniela return to church before Angelique gets baptized. Daniela also invited us to her house for breakfast on Saturday. It was super fun to have breakfast with her and get to know her better. It was my first time eating tacos at 7:30 in the morning haha. Daniela and Angelique both came to church yesterday! It was amazing! The ward members were excited to see Daniela again, and they were great at welcoming her and Angelique.
We ate dinner with another Castillo family in the ward. Part of the dinner was cooked cactus! They call it 'nopal.' I had no idea that people eat cactus, but I guess it's normal. It has kind of a slimy texture. It's very interesting haha.
We tried to visit an inactive member in the ward named Jhonathan. His mom Elizabeth answered the door and said that he doesn't live there anymore. She is actually an inactive member too, but we didn't know about her because her church records are in another ward. She invited us in, and we talked to her for a little bit. She gave us her phone number and said that we can continue visiting her!
Last week, I read 1 Nephi chapter 15. In this chapter, Nephi is interpreting the vision that his father Lehi saw of the tree of life. In his vision, Lehi also saw a river. In verse 27, Nephi says "And I said unto them that the water which my father saw was filthiness; and so much was his mind swallowed up in other things that he beheld not the filthiness of the water." The filthiness represents the evils in the world. As I was reading this verse, I realized how important it is to keep our focus on Christ. Lehi was so focused on the tree of life that he didn't even notice the filthiness of the water. When we focus on Christ, we are able to tune out the evils of the world. I would like to invite you all to think of one thing that you can do each day to focus on Christ. I know that by keeping our focus on Him, we will be better able to resist Satan's temptations. We will also become more like Him and have a greater desire to do the things that He would do. I know that He loves you, and He wants you to follow Him. He is always there for you. I testify of these things in His name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
