Happy Easter!
Hola hola!
I hope that you all had an amazing week and a wonderful General Conference weekend!
Last week, we started teaching a man named Alberto. He saw an add on Facebook about meeting with missionaries and submitted his information for us to go visit him. We had a lesson with him and taught him about the restoration of the gospel. We brought a member from our ward with us to the lesson. When Alberto intruduced himself to the member, he introduced himself as Juan. Hermana Curbelo and I were confused, but we figured that he just has two names and prefers to be called Juan. The visit went really well, and Juan told us that he is interested in learning more. He didn't know his work schedule for the rest of the week yet, so he told us to call him the next day to set up another visit. We called him the next day, and Hermana Curbelo said "Hola Juan" and told him that it was the missionaries calling. He said hola but said that he wasn't Juan, he was José. Hermana Curbelo asked if we had the right number. He said yes and that he was still interested in having another lesson. We were talking to him in Spanish, but he kept responding in English. It was strange because our entire visit with him had been in Spanish. After we hung up the phone, Hermana Curbelo and I looked at each other like what in the world just happened. We were so confused. It was the craziest phone call of my life haha. So basically, we are teaching about three different people in one.
There is a trailer park in our area that we visit several times a week because a few members in our ward live there. Last week, as we were pulling into that trailer park, we noticed a sign and an entrance to another trailer park close by. I'm not sure how we had never noticed this other trailer park before, but Hermana Curbelo and I both felt like we needed to go knock some doors there. A couple of nights later, we went to the new trailer park. During the previous weeks, we had been struggling to find areas with lots of people who speak Spanish. We started walking through the trailer park and talking to people. Everyone spoke Spanish! It was a miracle! We were able to talk to lots of people and set up a few visits for this week. The Lord helped us to find the place and the people that we had been looking for.
We watched General Conference with a few of the new members in our ward. It was neat to watch General Conference with them as they watched it for the first time. Elder Gary E. Stevensen began the conference by talking about the importance of celebrating Easter. He said that Easter is a celebration of the most important event that ever happened on earth. That event is the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I loved Elder Stevensen's invitation to make reading 3 Nephi 11 as much of an Easter tradition as is reading Luke 2 on Christmas. At the end of the conference, President Nelson also extended the invitation to each of us to study in 3 Nephi when Jesus Christ visited the Nephites after He had been resurrected. I would also like to extend President Nelson's invitation to you all. I know that the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event that has ever and will ever happen on earth. Without Easter, there would be no reason to celebrate Christmas. I testify that He lives. He loves you. He knows you personally because he went through everything that you have been through and will go through. I know that as you study His Atonement and Resurrecction, you will come to know Him better and feel His love for you more abundantly. I leave my testimony with you in His name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Happy Easter! I love you all!!
Con Amor,
