Easter Miracle
Hola hola!
I hope you all had an amazing Easter Sunday. We had an awesome miracle here. Over the last few months, we have been visiting the Hartwig family. They had been inactive members of the church for a few years when I first came to this area. The husband has recently been coming to church again, but the wife still hadn't been coming. We had a lesson with them last week and invited them both to come to church on Easter. We got to church on Sunday and they weren't there. We were pretty bummed that not even Hermano Hartwig came. About 10 minutes after the meeting started, we turned around and saw the Hartwigs sitting a few rows behind us with their two little girls. We were so excited! It was neat to see them at church together as a family. On Easter, we were also able to help the people at the Faith House set up for their Easter lunch. It is a home for women and children who have been abused. It is amazing how positive and kind the women are, even after everything they have been through.
Last week, I had an exchange with another missionary named Sister Pence. I went to her area for the day. She is in an english biking area. It just so happened that the day of the exchange was INSANELY windy. I'm pretty sure that people thought we were crazy as they drove by us while we were riding our bikes to visits. There were times that the wind was so strong that we were barely moving haha. It was quite the experience.
We had lots of visits with members last week to help them continue to strengthen their testimonies and get involved in missionary work. The members here in Solano are truly amazing! One day last week, as we were doing some of our studies at Panera Bread, a few members from other areas sat down and talked to us about General Conference and missionary work. One of the men used to be a ward missionary in his ward. There were sister missionaries in his ward at the time, and he told us that he loved working with them. There are now Elders in his ward, so we were the first sister missionaries that he had talked to in a while. He was so happy to see us, and it was fun to talk to him. It was a tender mercy.
We started teaching Armando again! Him and Daniela got married on Saturday. Now that the wedding is over and things aren't quite so crazy, we are going to talk with him to figure out a baptismal date!
We got our transfer news last night. Hermana Curbelo will be staying in Solano, and I am going to an area called La Jolla. It's only about 20 minutes from Solano. I will be in a trio and helping to complete the training of one of my future companions. I'm sad to leave the people in Solano because I have grown to love them so much, but I'm so excited to get to know the people in La Jolla and I know that I will love them too.
As I was studying in the Book of Mormon this morning, I read 1 Nephi 17:8. It says "And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Thou shalt construct a ship, after the manner which I shall show thee, that I may carry thy people across these waters." The Lord told Nephi to build a ship, then He would carry Nephi and his people across the waters. Just as the Lord instructed Nephi, we too must hypothetically "build a ship" for the Lord to be able to carry us across the waters. In other words, we must exercise our faith in Him and do our part, then He will work miracles in our lives. Just like Nephi, the Lord will show us how to build the ship. I know that the Lord won't ask us to do anything that we cannot do. I know that He will help us as long as we have faith in Him and strive to do all that we can. I know that He loves each one of you! I say these things in His name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
