I Made It To Phoenix!
Hola everyone!
I made it to Phoenix! My mission President and his wife (President and Sister Eyre) are amazing! I already love them so much. My companion is Sister Farnsworth. She's great! She's been serving for 14 months, so her Spanish is really good. She does most of the talking in our lessons haha.
When I was getting ready to leave the MTC, the wheels on one of my luggages broke. Two of the guys working at the reception desk tried to tape them on for me. Needless to say, the airport was an interesting experience.
Before I left the MTC, I received a priesthood blessing from one of the Elders in my district. During the blessing, the Spirit in the room was so strong. I know that the words the Elder said were from God. I was able to feel the comfort I needed before coming to Arizona. I am so thankful for the priesthood and priesthood blessings. I know that priesthood power truly is from God.
My final devotional at the MTC was a video of Elder David A. Bednar. He talked about having a testimony vs. being converted. He said that simply having a testimony will never be enough. We must also be converted to the Lord. Elder Bednar said a testimony is what you know to be true, and conversion is staying true to what you know. Conversion is turning away from the natural man and turning toward Christ. When we are converted, we see others how Christ sees them, and we strive to serve them. Being converted means putting our testimony into action. Elder Bednar promised that if we become truly converted to the Lord, we will never fall away from His gospel.
Last week, President Eyre encouraged us to read from the Book of Mormon every day. He said the Book of Mormon is the most true book on earth today, so why would we not read from it every day? In 2 Nephi 32:3, we are told to "feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do." I have come to understand the importance of the Book of Mormon in my life. It gives me guidance, and I learn something new each time I read it. If you are not currently reading the Book of Mormon every day, I encourage you to start now, even if it's only one verse a day. I promise that it will help strengthen your faith in Christ and your desire to follow Him.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
