Peacocks At The Library

Hola!

A few days ago, my companion and I did our companion study at a library close to our apartment. We walked outside after we got done studying and there were peacocks everywhere! A few of the peacocks even had babies with them. Some people who were standing outside of the library told us that the peacocks always hang out around there. They acted like it was no big deal. I was amazed haha. I had never seen so many peacocks in my life.

On Tuesday night, Hermana Farnsworth and I went to an apartment complex to visit one of the members in our ward. As we were walking to the member's apartment, we saw a guy standing outside of another apartment. I had a strong feeling that we needed to talk to him, but I was nervous and didn't know how to approach him. I decided that if he was there after we talked to the member, I would talk to him. We went to the member's apartment, and they weren't home. We started heading back to the car, and the guy we had seen earlier was still standing outside of the other apartment. We walked up to him and started talking to him. We asked him if he had ever talked to missionaries before and if that was something that he would ever be interested in. He told us that he had never talked to missionaries before, but his friend had told him earlier that day that he should find a church and start going to it. He told us that he felt like meeting us was a sign. We taught him a little bit about the restoration of the gospel and read a few scriptures from the Book of Mormon with him. He told us that he would be interested in learning more, so we gave him a Book of Mormon and set up another visit with him!

I had my first companion exchange on Saturday. I went with Sister Hunsaker to her area. She's in an English speaking area. It's also a biking area. It was super fun to be on a bike! It was much easier to talk to people on the street compared to when we're in a car. I'm definitely a little sore from all of the biking we did haha, but it was so good!

We had a baptism this week for a girl named Raquel. It was amazing to watch her make her first covenant with God. She was filled with so much happiness and light. Seeing how happy she was and hearing her testimony of the gospel made me excited to continue helping people come unto Christ and be baptized.

I've been reading in Helaman in the Book of Mormon and I love Helaman 5:12. It says "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." I encourage you all to do something this week to strengthen your faith in Christ. I know that it is through Him that we can have the strength to overcome temptations and the ability to find joy in the midst of trials.

I love you all, and I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love you too!

Love,
Hermana Kendrick
