Happy Thanksgiving!
¡Hola!
¡Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias!
We started going to some English classes that are held at the church. The classes are free and open to anyone. It was crazy to hear people trying to learn English as I'm trying to learn Spanish. I realized how weird English is and how difficult it would be to learn it later in life. We went over the words their, there, and they're. I just sat thinking who in the world comes up with this stuff?
We started teaching a lady named Maria and her family. She's amazing and has such a strong desire to learn more about the gospel. She is learning really fast and has already progressed so much.
One night last week, we knocked doors at an aparment complex. After we were done, we started walking back to our car. We stopped to take a picture of the sunset because it was AMAZING then a guy pulled up next to us in his car and started talking to us. He told us that the people in the apartment a couple doors down from where we were knocking smoke Fentanyl so we should stay away from there. I guess that Fentanyl is a big thing here so that's nice haha.
A few nights ago, we felt like we needed to call a lady named Yolanda. She answered the phone and we told her that we are the missionaries. Then she was silent. After a little while, we asked if she could still hear us. We heard her sniffling and she said "yes, sorry." She started to cry and told us that God works in mysterious ways. She had been really struggling the last few weeks. She told us that our phone call was an answer to her prayers and that she was about ready to "throw in the towel" before we called. Although I don't know exactly what she meant by that, I had a strong feeling that our phone call saved her life. I know that we were guided by the Spirit to call her.
I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving. I'm so grateful for each of you!
D&C 98:1 Verily I say unto you my friends, fear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everything give thanks.
Con Amor,
