¡Inglés Está Muerto!
¡Hola!
Wow, last week flew by. I'm still loving the MTC and learning a lot!
My district did a service project last week. For the project, we put new bedding on the beds in one of the houses that new missionaries would be moving into. The guy leading the service project was like a drill sergeant. He would throw a blanket or sheet at someone then say a room number. If we weren't making the beds fast enough, he would say "¡Rapido!" Sometimes he would just take over and do it himself haha. I have never made a bed so fast in my life!
My afternoon teacher's name is Hermano Pichardo. During one of my Home MTC classes, he was eating a piece of candy. One of the Elders in my district asked him what kind of candy it was. It was called PicaFresa. Hermano Pichardo said he was going to buy us all a piece when we got to Mexico. We finally got to try it last week. I learned that I am not a fan of Mexican candy haha. It was spicy, and the texture was really strange. There were only a few Elders in my district who liked it. The rest of us could barely even swallow it haha.
A few days ago, my companion told me I had talked in my sleep. But I was talking in Spanish. I was shocked. I'm hoping that means that I know more Spanish than I think I do. This week, President Kirkham said "¡Inglés está muerto!" which means "English is dead." He wants us to speak as much Spanish as possible everywhere we go. That way, we'll be more prepared for when we get to the mission field. It takes a little while for each of us to figure out how to say our sentences in Spanish, and most of the time we don't even say them right. It's been fun though, and it has already helped my Spanish improve so much.
During a devotional this week, we learned about the importance of remembering. Memories are precious, but it's easy to forget them if we don't write them down. I made a goal to journal every night about my experiences, thoughts, and feelings. If you don't regularly write in a journal, I encourage you to start now. Your future self will thank you!
Love,
