The Pattern Of Faith
¡Hola hola!
It was a very exciting week here! Last Monday, we had a branch activity. At the activity, our friend Jalil was talking to President Valle and told him that he wanted to be baptized the coming Sunday (yesterday). President Valle later told us and we were like woah, what? We had planned to invite Jalil to be baptized during our lesson later in the week, and we were excited to find out that he was already thinking about baptism. We still have a couple of lessons to teach him before he can be baptized so we talked to him about it, and he is going to be baptized this Sunday!
A couple of weeks ago, we got a phone call from a random number. It turned out to be a member from another Spanish ward close by. His name was Ramon. Ramon told us that he works with a man named Luis and had been sharing the gospel with him. He said that he had given Luis a Book of Mormon and Luis wanted to start meeting with missionaries! He was with Luis at the time and passed the phone over to him. We talked to Luis for a little bit and set up a lesson. The lesson was amazing, and Luis told us that he had already started reading the Book of Mormon. He came to church yesterday and brought his wife and son. They are going through some very difficult things right now. The speakers at church talked about the joy that comes from the gospel. They were very inspired and it was exactly what Luis and his family needed.
We had a devotional over Zoom with Elder Ahmad Corbitt of the General Authority Seventy. He spoke to us about faith and focused on two verses from the Book of Mormon - Alma 5:15-16. In these verses, Alma asks "Do ye exercise faith in the redemption of him who created you? Do you look forward with an eye of faith, and view this mortal body raised in immortality, and this corruption raised in incorruption... I say unto you, can you imagine to yourselves that ye hear the voice of the Lord, saying unto you, in that day: Come unto me ye blessed, for behold, your works have been the works of righteousness upon the face of the earth?" Elder Corbitt taught that these verses demonstrate the pattern of faith. Faith means looking forward and viewing the blessings that God has promised us. Elder Corbitt read a handful of other verses in the Book of Mormon written by prophets who lived before Jesus Christ came to earth. These prophets had so much faith that Jesus Christ would come and atone for the sins of the world that they talked about the Atonement of Jesus Christ as if it had already happened. Elder Corbitt explained that we all can have this kind of faith because we know that God always fulfills His promises. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We can look forward and view the blessings that God has promised us as if we have already received them because we know that we will. I testisfy that this is true faith. I know that God loves you. He has countless blessings in store for you and they will come in His perfect timing. Of these things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
