The Sacrament
Hola hola a todos!
Its starting to feel like spring here and its absolutely beautiful!
It was a very exciting week! The Río Salado Branch had its first ever Branch Conference yesterday. On Tuesday, we had a pre-branch conference dinner with the branch members, stake leaders, and our friends. On Sundays, the branch meets in the Relief Society room for Sacrament meeting since its still a pretty small group of people. When I first got to this area, we had about 20-25 people coming to Sacrament meeting in the branch each week, and that included the members of the branch. Yesterday, the room was so full that we barely had enough chairs for everyone. Its amazing to see the growth that has happened in just a few months. God truly is preparing the people in this area to receive to gospel. He has also softened the hearts of some inactive members of the branch and lead other members here from different areas. It is such a blessing to be able to serve here at this time and witness the miracles that God is working.
As I look at the photo from the Branch Conference yesterday, I am in awe thinking about all of the sacrifices that those people have made to get to where they are now. Through all of the unbelievably tough moments that they have faced, they have chosen to put God first. They know where their true source of strength comes from. Being in a room with other people who are striving to become more like Jesus Christ and having the opportunity to partake of the Sacrament together is incredible. Elder Tad R. Callister said, “The sacrament is a time of deep introspection and self-examination. The sacrament is a time when we not only remember the Savior, but we match our life against that of the Great Exemplar. It is a time to put aside all self-deception; it is a time of absolute sublime truth. All excuses, all facades must fall by the wayside, allowing our spirit, as it really is, to commune spirit to Spirit with our Father. At this moment we become our own judge, contemplating what our life really is and what it really should be... [The Savior] knows that in our weakness we need to commit not just once at baptism, but frequently thereafter. Each week, each month, each year as we stretch forth our hand to partake of his emblems we commit with our honor, for whatever it is worth, to serve him, keep his commandments, and put our life in harmony with the divine standard.” I know that God loves us. He sent His son Jesus Christ so that we can return to live with Him again one day. Of these things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
