Jesus Christ Is The Way
Hola hola!
It has been kind of a crazy week here. Hermana Shefchik got sick towards the end of the week, so we spent a couple of days in the apartment. She's feeling much better today so now we're just hoping that I don't get whatever she had.
Our friends are doing really well! Melvin hadn't been able to come to church for a little while because his wife recently had a baby. We finally had another lesson with them last week and they told us how much they missed coming to church and that they had felt a difference in their lives while they hadn't been able to come. They came yesterday and were so happy to be back. The members of the ward were also very happy to see them again.
We had a few more lessons with Claudia, and her daughter Anahí joined us for one of them. Anahí also had a baby recently so her and Claudia aren't able to come to church right now, but they are wanting to come when the baby gets a little older.
We started teaching a lady named Rebecca and her daughter Savannah. They are amazing! As we were introducing them to the Book of Mormon, Savannah got a piece of paper and a pen to take notes! Rebecca and Savannah are both very in tune with the Spirit. They don't know many people around here, so they are super excited to meet the ward members and go to activities.
Our friend Dawn has a brother who is a member of our church, but he isn't super active right now. A couple of weeks ago, Dawn told him that she started meeting with us and he was so excited! He lives in another state but said that he wanted to join our lessons through video call. He joined us for our last lesson, and shared his powerful testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Him and Dawn are now going to study together in between our visits!
We started volunteering at the Arizona Refugee Center. It's an amazing nonprofit organization run by one of the women in our stake relief society presidency. There are refugees from all over the world that come in to get help with various things. We will be helping teach english every Tuesday. I taught english in a few of my past areas and I'm super excited to do it again. I love teaching english and seeing how happy people get when they are able to communicate with others.
A little while ago, I was prompted to extend my mission for another six weeks. I'm not exactly sure what the Lord has in store but I know that He wants me here for a little bit longer, and I feel so blessed to be able to continue serving Him. It is incredible to be an instrument in His hands and help others to come unto Him. Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge said “There is only one way to happiness and fulfillment. Jesus Christ is the Way.” I testify that these words are true. Jesus Christ is our Savior. His Gospel is for everyone. He knows each one of us personally and loves us with an infinite love. Of these things I testify in His name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
