Think Celestial

Hola todos!

Its transfer week! I'm leaving Vía Verde and heading to the Vía Linda and Chaparral area. Its a little north of where I am now. I will be in two wards, one in english and one in spanish, and my new companion will be Hermana Rosales. I am so grateful for the time that I had here in Vía Verde. The people here are amazing. I am excited for this new transfer and for the opportunity to teach in both english and spanish. I am also excited to meet all of the people there and get to love them!

We had exchanges last week. I went with Sister Bolton to her area. She is so much fun! We started the day by doing service for a lady named Lily who needed help moving out of her apartment. Lily is a member of another church and doesn't really have any family or friends close by. One of her friends reached out to some other missionaries to see if we could help her move. We showed up and Lily didn’t have any boxes or a way to move her stuff into the storage unit she is renting. We did as much as we could then left and called the Elders Quorum President to see if he had any ideas about what to do. He said that he had some extra boxes and that he was going to send out a text to the men in the ward to see who could bring a truck and help move everything. It was neat to see how the people in the ward were so ready and willing to help Lily, even though they didn't know her. It made me realize how blessed we all are to have a constant support system around us.

We said bye to Elder Valle from our ward. He is now in the MTC and will be heading to the Ogden, Utah mission afterwards! He is so excited and will be an amazing missionary.

What a powerful weekend of General Conference! Watching it as a missionary truly was amazing. We were able to watch the first session with a bunch of the missionaries in our zone. It was neat to be all together and receive guidance from the leaders of the church. We watched some of the other sessions with the Christensens, the senior missionary couple that lives in our same apartment complex. We also watched a session in the church building with some of the members of our ward. General Conference is a sacred experience. It is an opportunity for us to receive answers to our questions and feel God's love on a deeper level. During his talk, President Nelson said "Your choices today will determine three things: where you will live throughout all eternity, the kind of body with which you will be resurrected, and those with whom you will live forever. So think celestial." I love President Nelson's invitation to "think celestial." Everything we think, do, and say matters. We must choose to live celestial now if we want to live celestial in the next life. President Nelson's invitation reminded me of the saying “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” We must never forget that. You are a child of God. He is literally your Father, and He loves you. I would like to invite you all to ponder about what the Holy Ghost taught you during General Conference and plan how you will apply what you learned into your life. I know that as we become doers of the word of God and not just hearers, He will give us power to reach our divine potential. Of these things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I love you all!

Con Amor,
Hermana Kendrick
