The Sealing Power

I hope that you all had an amazing week! 

I made it to my new area! I'm now in Scottsdale and it is absolutely beautiful! There are lots of cactus and mountains around us. Hermana Rosales is amazing and I love her. I have already had so much fun working with her and I know that its going to be a great transfer. We normally share the Spanish wards or branches with a companionship of Elders. However, the Elders were moved out of the area, so we are now covering all of the spanish branch and our english ward. It has been fun to get to know some of the members and friends that we are teaching. The people here are very sweet and I already love them. 

We helped out at the Chinese Autumn Festival last week, along with a bunch of other missionaries in our zone. When we got there, the person in charge told us that we would all be going up on stage later to sing a song, then he handed us the lyrics. It was I am a Child of God in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. He wanted us to sing all three. We all looked at each other like how in the world are we going to do this haha. The time came for us to sing, and the person in charge came on stage with us. I thought we did pretty good actually. Afterwards, the announcer said "I know that Jesus understood every word." So I guess it wasn’t quite as good as I thought haha. It was so much fun to be a part of it though and to experience a little bit of the Chinese culture. 

Last week, we had a zoom call with the Fisks and all of the missionaries to discuss what we learned from General Conference. One of the Elders noted that many of the speakers talked about salavation and exaltation. He then said that him and his companion recently taught the Plan of Salvation to a man whose daughter died. This man told them that he was confused about the difference between salvation and exaltation. The Elder asked him "would you be happy in Heaven without your daughter there?" The man said "of course not." Then the Elder told him "that is the difference between salvation and exaltation." In his recent General Conference talk titled The Sealing Power, Elder D. Todd Christofferson said that "the very reason the earth was created was so families could be formed and sealed to each other. Salvation is an individual matter, but exaltation is a family matter. No one can be exalted alone.” I am so grateful that the sealing power has been restored to the earth. I testify of the words of President Nelson that "Heavenly Father’s plan for us is fabulous." I would like to invite you all to listen or listen again to this talk by Elder Christofferson and reflect on how the sealing power has blessed or could bless your life. I testify that the Priesthood is the authority and power that God has given to man to act in the name of Jesus Christ. Only through the sealing power of the holy priesthood can we have the oportunity to live with our families forever. Of these things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

¡Hola amigos y familiares! It was a busy week with Zone Conference and lots of lessons with our friends. There is so much work to do in this area and its awesome!  Our friend Blanca and her two kids, Ashley and Gael, told us that they want to be baptized but aren't quite ready to set a date. Blanca is a little nervous about being baptized because her extended family isn't very supportive of her wanting to join our church. We had one of our lessons with Blanca at the Laytons house, and the Laytons did an amazing job of responding to some of her worries. We are continuing to pray that her and her kids will be ready to set a baptismal date soon.  Daniel and Marisol are doing so well! Last week, they told us that they are ready to change what they need to and commit to following Jesus Christ. They come to every church activity and refer to the branch members as their family. I Made It To Phoenix!

Hola everyone! I made it to Phoenix! My mission President and his wife (President and Sister Eyre) are amazing! I already love them so much. My companion is Sister Farnsworth. She's great! She's been serving for 14 months, so her Spanish is really good. She does most of the talking in our lessons haha.  When I was getting ready to leave the MTC, the wheels on one of my luggages broke. Two of the guys working at the reception desk tried to tape them on for me. Needless to say, the airport was an interesting experience. Before I left the MTC, I received a priesthood blessing from one of the Elders in my district. During the blessing, the Spirit in the room was so strong. I know that the words the Elder said were from God. I was able to feel the comfort I needed before coming to Arizona. I am so thankful for the priesthood and priesthood blessings. Be In The World

Hola a todos!  I hope that you're all doing well! We had another lesson with the Romero family and they are doing so well! Their goal this year as a family is to come to all of the branch activities. They have lots of friends in the branch and the members have been great at helping them feel welcome. We have been praying hard for the Romero family to open up more, and every lesson it seems like they feel a little more comfortable with us.  Last week was Zone Conference week, and President Fisk introduced a new mission initiative called "the lost coin." As a mission, we started teaching quite a few people last year but only a small percentage of them ended up getting baptized. This year, we are going to focus more on using the tools that we have to find those who were taught by missionaries last year and in years passed. Then we are going to check up on them and see how we can help them to continue learning. We have lots of amazing tools as missionaries and it will be awes...
