"Peace, Be Still"

Hola familia y amigos!

I hope that you are all doing well!

Last week was a little crazy because Hermana Harrop and I got sick. We spent a few days in the apartment recovering. We were bummed to not be able to go to work and meet with the people that were supposed to have lessons with. We felt like us being sick was having a negative effect on our area. However, we started talking one night and realized how silly it was for us to think that us being sick for a few days could stop the Lord's work. The next morning, we were still sick, but we received some referrals from other missionaries. These missionaries had been looking for people they taught in the past but found other families who actually live in our area and were interested in having a visit. We were able to call these people and set up visits for later in the week. We then went to the visits and they were awesome! Hermana Harrop and I knew that us staying home truly was best and that even though we weren't able to go out, God was working miracles in our area.

It was also Zone Conference week. We always have two sessions as a mission through Zoom and one in-person session with our zone and one other zone. Luckily, Hermana Harrop and I were feeling better in time to go to our in-person session of Zone Conference. During Zone Conference, we sang a song called Master, the Tempest Is Raging. I had heard this song several times before, but it wasn’t until this time that I really started to think about the words. It tells the Bible story in Mark chapter 4 when Christ and His disciples are on a boat and a great storm arises. Christ is asleep on the boat, and the disciples begin to fear that they will drown. They wake up Christ and ask if He cares that they are about to be swallowed up in the sea. In Mark 4:39-40, it says "And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?" In the chorus of Master, the Tempest is Raging, it says "The winds and the waves shall obey thy will: Peace, be still. Whether the wrath of the storm-tossed sea Or demons or men or whatever it be, No waters can swallow the ship where lies The Master of ocean and earth and skies. They all shall sweetly obey thy will: Peace, be still; peace, be still. They all shall sweetly obey thy will: Peace, peace, be still." Although Jesus Christ may not physically be with us as we go through life, His spirit dwells within us as we follow Him. With the Spirit of Christ, we become like the boat in this song, and nothing can sink us. We have no reason to fear when Christ is with us. Everything obeys His will. Our mission focus this transfer is Let God Prevail. I would like to invite you all to study the General Conference talk by President Nelson called Let God Prevail then think about how you can more fully let God prevail in your own life. I know that as you put your faith in Him and trust His will, you will come to see that there is no need to fear. I know that He loves you. He has a plan for you, and His plan is perfect. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I love you all!

Con Amor,
Hermana Kendrick
