Happy Father's Day
Hola todos!
I hope that you all had a great week and that all of you fathers had an amazing Father's Day yesterday.
Last week, we went to St. Mary's Food Bank to do service for the first time in a little while. It was super fun to be there again. The ward also had a party last night for Father's Day. They had tons of food, and there was a DJ so everyone was dancing after dinner. Spanish wards sure know how to party!
After church, some of the men in the ward showed Carlos how to bless the Sacrament so that he can do it next week. Carlos also got a white shirt and tie and wore them to church yesterday! It was neat to see him all dressed up. The ward members have been amazing at welcoming Carlos into the ward, and it has been so cool to see him progress.
We stopped teaching a bunch of our friends this week because they weren't quite ready to progress. They liked having lessons with us, but they weren't willing to come to church. We are hoping to find some new people to teach this week. We have been working with some inactive members in our ward to help them come back to church and to see if they know anyone who would be interested in learning and coming to church.
As I was studying and thinking about fathers yesterday, I came across a quote from a general conference talk that President A. Theodore Tuttle gave in October 1973. He said, "It should have great meaning that of all the titles of respect and honor and admiration that could be given Him, that God himself, He who is the highest of all, chose to be addressed simply as 'Father.'" I am in awe that the God of the universe chose for us to call Him 'Father.' As I thought about the importance and value of earthly fathers, I thought about what a sacred privilege it must be to share a title with God Himself. I am so thankful for both my father on earth and in Heaven. I would like to invite you all to reflect on the blessings that Heavenly Father has given you, no matter how big or small they may be. Then reflect on all that you have learned from your earthly father and the ways that he has blessed your life. After you do this, I would also like to invite you to thank both of them for these specific blessings. I know that Heavenly Father loves each one of us. I know that fathers play a crucial role in loving and guiding their families. I am grateful to know that we worship a God that loves each one of us enough to ask us to call Him 'Father.' I know that His love is unconditional, and His hand is always stretched out to us. I leave my testimony with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love you all!
Con Amor,
