Daniela And Armando

Hola hola!

I hope that you are all doing well! It was another great week here. 

Every Tuesday night, we have English classes at the church for anyone in the community who wants to learn English. After the class last week, a lady named Daniela and her fiance Armando walked in the church and were looking for our bishop. We showed them to his office, but he was in a meeting with another family. We started talking to Daniela and Armando while they were waiting. Daniela told us that she is an inactive member of the church and Armando is not a member. She said that they moved into this area a few months ago and want to start coming to church! We were able to show them around the church and have a short lesson before their visit with the bishop. The next day, we had a visit with them and their family. Daniela has three kids. It was an amazing visit! They are so excited to start coming to church again and learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 

Today, I read Moroni chapter 10 in the Book of Mormon. In verse 4, Moroni invites us after we read the Book of Mormon, to "ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true." I love the wording of this invitation. Moroni doesn't invite us to pray to know if the Book of Mormon is true. Instead, he invites us to pray to know if it is NOT true. All of the prophets who wrote in the Book of Mormon testified that it is true. They saw it first hand, so they had no doubt of its truthfulness. Moroni continues by saying "if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." I know with my whole soul that the Book of Mormon is true. The Holy Ghost has testified of this to me as I have prayed and asked Heavenly Father to help me know. I invite you all, no matter how many times you have read or prayed about the Book of Mormon in the past, to read in the Book of Mormon then accept Moroni's invitation to pray to Heavenly Father and ask Him if it is not true. I know that whether it is your first time accepting Moroni's invitation or your tenth,
if you ask "with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ," the Holy Ghost will testify to you of the truth and help you to strengthen your testimony of the Book of Mormon. I leave my testimony with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. 

I love you all and I pray that you continue to feel Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ's love for you.

The Power Of The Book Of Mormon

¡Hola amigos y familiares! It was a busy week with Zone Conference and lots of lessons with our friends. There is so much work to do in this area and its awesome!  Our friend Blanca and her two kids, Ashley and Gael, told us that they want to be baptized but aren't quite ready to set a date. Blanca is a little nervous about being baptized because her extended family isn't very supportive of her wanting to join our church. We had one of our lessons with Blanca at the Laytons house, and the Laytons did an amazing job of responding to some of her worries. We are continuing to pray that her and her kids will be ready to set a baptismal date soon.  Daniel and Marisol are doing so well! Last week, they told us that they are ready to change what they need to and commit to following Jesus Christ. They come to every church activity and refer to the branch members as their family. I Made It To Phoenix!

Hola everyone! I made it to Phoenix! My mission President and his wife (President and Sister Eyre) are amazing! I already love them so much. My companion is Sister Farnsworth. She's great! She's been serving for 14 months, so her Spanish is really good. She does most of the talking in our lessons haha.  When I was getting ready to leave the MTC, the wheels on one of my luggages broke. Two of the guys working at the reception desk tried to tape them on for me. Needless to say, the airport was an interesting experience. Before I left the MTC, I received a priesthood blessing from one of the Elders in my district. During the blessing, the Spirit in the room was so strong. I know that the words the Elder said were from God. I was able to feel the comfort I needed before coming to Arizona. I am so thankful for the priesthood and priesthood blessings. Be In The World

Hola a todos!  I hope that you're all doing well! We had another lesson with the Romero family and they are doing so well! Their goal this year as a family is to come to all of the branch activities. They have lots of friends in the branch and the members have been great at helping them feel welcome. We have been praying hard for the Romero family to open up more, and every lesson it seems like they feel a little more comfortable with us.  Last week was Zone Conference week, and President Fisk introduced a new mission initiative called "the lost coin." As a mission, we started teaching quite a few people last year but only a small percentage of them ended up getting baptized. This year, we are going to focus more on using the tools that we have to find those who were taught by missionaries last year and in years passed.
