Happy Valentine's Day!

Hola!!

We had an exchange last week. This transfer is a little crazy because there are a lot of trios of missionaries. I ended up being with 3 other sister missionaries for the exchange! It was like being with another companionship all day. That never really happens so it was strange, but super fun! We stopped by a member that we had never been able to visit because her husband doesn't really like missionaries. She ended up letting us in and visiting with us for a little while! It was a miracle! She told us that she had actually served a mission when she was younger and that she loves missionaries. We didn't know her very well because we had never been able to visit her, so it was amazing to get to know her a little better.

We were knocking some doors at an apartment complex when we saw a guy working on his truck. We decided to talk to him. We walked up to him and asked if he had talked to missionaries before and if he would be interested in learning more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His name was Johnny. He said that he had never talked to missionaries before, but he was interested in learning more! We were able to share a brief message with him and get his phone number. He is in the process of moving right now, but he gave us his new address so that we can have the missionaries in that area reach out to him!

On Saturday, we helped a member named Hermana Velazquez trim her orange tree. Then we helped out at the multicultural festival in Peoria. They had a live band with a saxophone player. They were really good!

We started teaching a man named Vidal. We originally went to his house to have a visit with his roommate named Miguel. Miguel wasn't home, but Vidal said that he was interested in hearing our message. We taught him about the Restoration of the Gospel. He loved learning about it and said that he wants us to come back for another visit on Thursday!

We had Zone Conference last week, and it was amazing. It was focused on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. While Sister Eyre was giving her talk, she asked the question "What if love were my only motive?" I came to realize that throughout the Savior's life, love was His only motive. Everything that He did was because He loved Heavenly Father and His children. His Atonement was the greatest act of love that has been and will ever be performed. When love is our only motive, so many problems in our lives disappear because we become more like Jesus Christ. When we love God, we love others because we recognize them as His children. In spirit of Valentine's Day, I invite you all to reach out to those you love and let them know that you love them. I also invite you to do something to demonstrate your love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that when we make love our only motive, we can have true joy in this life.

I love you all and so do Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ!

Con Amor,
Hermana Kendrick
