Temple Trip

Hola todos!

Last week, we had a few lessons over the phone with Rafael. He is a truck driver, so he is on the road a lot. It makes it a little hard to have in-person visits with him, but he loves talking to us on the phone. He told us that we could call him every day and have a lesson with him because he knows that we teach about Jesus Christ. He has such a strong desire to learn. It's amazing! We have been going to the house of some older members in our ward to have the lessons. It has been really special for them to help us teach Rafael because they aren't able to go to many lessons with us since they can't drive at night. They have incredible testimonies and they love sharing the gospel with others.

We had a lesson with a lady named Miriam Rodriguez. She hadn't been to church for several years. We were able to talk through some of her concerns and fears about coming to church again. The next day was Sunday, and she came to church! She is a very sweet lady who has been through a lot in her life. She wants to start coming to church again regularly, so we are helping her get involved with the ward.

One of the men in our bishopic named Hermano Esquivel came with us to a lesson with Alfredo last week. We went to Alfredo's apartment, and he didn't answer the door. We knocked a few times and tried to call him, but he still didn't answer. We were about to leave, then Hermano Esquivel said that we should knock one more time. He knocked on the door, and Alfredo answered! Alfredo apologized because he had fallen asleep, so he didn't hear us knocking or calling his phone. He said that he still wanted to have the lesson, so we went inside and taught him. It was an amazing lesson. Hermano Esquivel was able to help explain some things that Hermana Morgan and I didn't know how to explain in Spanish. We gave Alfredo a baptismal plan that listed all of the things we will be teaching him before he gets baptized and the requirements for baptism. He was so excited about it, and he said that he is going to follow the plan exactly because it is a pefect plan. He also came to church on Sunday and said that he really enjoyed it!

We went to the temple with our Stake Presidency, their wives, and the other missionaries in our stake. Missionaries here are usually only able to go to the temple every 6 months, but our Stake President was able to get special permission for us to go. It was a very special expereince to go to the temple with the Stake Presidency because missionaries don't get to do it very often.

We have transfers tomorrow! Hermana Morgan and I will be staying in the Solano Ward together and training a new missionary from the MTC. I'm super excited! It will be fun to stay with Sister Morgan and also get a new companion. We don't know anything about our new companion yet, but we will meet her tomorrow!

In Believing Christ, it talks about how Jesus Christ not only took upon himself the punishment for the sins of the world, but also all of the guilt that comes with them. That means that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we are not simply forgiven of our sins. Instead, we are made innocent. When we choose to repent, our sins are completely erased, and we don't need to feel the guilt for them any longer. It is truly amazing that Jesus Christ was willing to sacrifice himself so that each of us could live with Him and Heavenly Father again. He loves us all more than we can even comprehend.

I love you all, and I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are so proud of each one of you.

Con Amor,
Hermana Kendrick
